Drake has released previously unreleased video of his July 2017 altercation with Swedish law enforcement.
The Canadian hitmaker revealed a video of himself getting detained by police in the Scandinavian nation in an Instagram post recounting some of his greatest experiences from 2022.
Off-camera, a voice is heard asking “Who’s in charge here?” while Drake, wearing a bright red tracksuit, is escorted into a police car by two cops.
“The funds are useful / The lyrics are truthful / The suspects are usual / The opps are delusional / The finish line is beautiful / And the disrespect is mutual,” Drizzy captioned the post. “See you in 23.”
According to reports, the OVO Sound founder was detained on July 14 while out having fun in Stockholm, Sweden, on suspicion of marijuana-related offenses (weed is illegal in Sweden).
Initially, the rapper's camp refuted the accusations, saying he was at his hotel and hadn't been taken into custody. Senior editor at HuffPost Philip Lewis added on Twitter: “I talked to Swedish police and they told me Drake is not currently in their custody.”
Days later, Drake released a paper from the Swedish National Police Board on Instagram, sort of confirming the news. It had the following title:“Information for Those Suspected of a Crime and Subsequently Detained,” which suggests Drake was detained but never arrested.
It went on to outline his rights while in custody, including: “know what it is you are suspected of and why you are being denied” and “receive the aid of a defense attorney who under certain conditions can only be paid by the state,” as well as “receive food and rest as needed” and “receive the assistance of an interpreter during interrogations as needed.” Later, on his collaborative album with 21 Savage called Her Loss, Drake made reference to the incident.
“Swedish jail cell smellin’ like some Carby Musk,” he rapped on “Middle of the Ocean,”
Later, on his collaborative album with 21 Savage called Her Loss, Drake made reference to the incident. On "Middle of the Ocean," he rapped, "Swedish jail cell smellin' like some Carby Musk," while promoting his expensive scented candle.
Drake's 2022 recap also featured images of him playing basketball while on vacation, visiting boxing icon Mike Tyson, and posing next to a mystery woman from their Her Loss album release.
The final image in the 10-part slideshow shows Drizzy enjoying one of his favorite past times from the comfort of his opulent Toronto mansion: high stakes gambling.
